Anthony W. Russ, 70
Anthony William Russ passed away peacefully after his battle with Alzheimer’s (dementia) in the early morning on February 19, 2018 where he had been in the memory care unit at Brookdale of Arlington.
Tony was born on February 26, 1947 in Stockport England before coming to the U.S as a young boy where he grew up in Silver Spring MD and attended Montgomery Blair High School with the famous actress, Goldie Hawn. After graduation, Tony served in the U.S Marine Corps from 1965 – 1969 when he immediately joined the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C. Tony received an Associate’s Degree from the American University in Criminal Justice while serving the force. During his law enforcement career which he LOVED, Tony worked major narcotic cases and retired after 30 years of service as a Sergeant out of the Major Narcotics Division (DEA Task Force).
Tony enjoyed many hobbies in his lifetime and was an avid lover of food, cars, baseball, politics and being a Dad. After Tony retired, he cruised the country’s highways from Virginia to California on his Harley or in his Corvettes with the Aquia Creek Corvette Club.
Tony is survived by his daughter, Stella Rowland also an MPD Officer, son-in-law John Rowland an MPD Sergeant and grandsons Colton John (2 years old) and Eli William (2.5 months old).
A viewing will be held on Monday, March 5th from 10:30 a.m to 12:30 p.m; prayer service from 12:30 p.m to 1:00 p.m at Miller Funeral Home located at 3200 Golansky Blvd Woodbridge, VA. Burial will follow immediately after to Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Rd, Triangle, VA 22172 at 2:00 p.m
