Carol J. Tilbury, 69

            

 

Carol Jean Childress Tilbury passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 17, 2018.  She was Born on March 15, 1949 in Sapulpa, OK.  Jean graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1967.  She earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Oklahoma State University in 1971.  Jean married her high school sweetheart on August 7, 1971;  and the couple moved to Northern Virginia in 1972. She was a third and fourth grade school teacher at Marumsco Hills Elementary School in Woodbridge, VA for 30 years before retiring.  She served on the board of Prince William Soccer Inc. and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.  In retirement, Jean enjoyed going on cruises, traveling and taking trips with her children and grandchildren. 

 

Jean is predeceased by her parents, Howard and Leona Childress and her sister, Barbara Jelinek.

 

She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Sgt. Major Jack Tilbury USA (Ret.), and her three daughters and sons-in-law, Jill Camp (David), Julie Jones (Derek) and Jennifer Winters (Brian).  Her brother-in-law, Leon Jelinek and her sisters-in-law, Terri Burke (Steve) and Judith Perrine (Terry), also survive her.  She will be forever remembered by her beloved grandchildren, Jack and Owen Camp, Jonathan and Joshua Jones and Isabelle Winters.  She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Sharon Jelinek, Lisa Jelinek, Phillip Jelinek, Josh Burke, and Brian Burke as well as by cousins, Bobby Coley Ferguson and Teresa Crowl Grist. 

 

The service for Jean will be at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1400 G Street, Woodbridge, VA, at 1:00 PM, October 22, 2018.  Arrangements are through Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golasky Blvd, Woodbridge, VA.  Interment will be at Arlington Nation Cemetery at a later date. 

 

The family would like to thank the staff at Davita Dialysis Center of Woodbridge for their care, support, friendship  and expertise.
