Cecilia A. Augustine, 67
Cecilia Ann Augustine (Weiner) passed away on December 3, 2018. She was 67.
“Ceil” was born on September 12, 1951, in the Bronx, New York. She was raised in Trumbull, Connecticut and graduated from Trumbull High School. She met her husband, Dan, as a teenager in the Troubadours club. They wed in 1971 and soon thereafter he joined the military. She spent the next 24 years traveling the world as a proud “Army wife.” While her three children were young she stayed home, but later she worked as a preschool and then a kindergarten teacher. In 1997, Dan retired from the military, and they spent their remaining years together in Manassas, Virginia. In her 50s, Ceil went back to school and earned a Masters in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. She then became a clinical social worker at Renal Care Partners in Woodbridge, Virginia, a job that brought her deep satisfaction. She retired in 2012.
Ceil was a giver and always put others in front of herself—her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and anyone she came into contact with. That was reflected in how she spent her life—as a mother, a teacher, and a social worker. She loved going to the movies, quilting, and, more than anything else, spending time with her children and grandchildren. Coffee dates and sewing lessons with Hazel, snuggles with Dorothy, trips to Arkansas and Oklahoma to visit Talia, Makenna and Kannon, rooting on her son Dan’s football team, bragging on her daughter Rachel’s new job, working out with her son Charles – these are the things Ceil held very dearly. Her vivacious personality would light up any room. She could even get a little “fresh” sometimes – her word for being a bit sassy. Ceil was the biggest encourager and cheerleader to every person she loved.
She was a Christian and a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. She was a kind soul and will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Augustine, and her parents Lucy Frances Weiner and Raymond “Old Goat” Weiner. Survivors include three children, Daniel Augustine II (Megan) of Lawton, OK, Rachel Augustine Potter (Philip) of Charlottesville, VA, and Charles Augustine (Lauren) of Alexandria, VA; and five beloved grandchildren: Talia, Makenna, Hazel, Kannon, and Dorothy.
A viewing will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd, Woodbridge, VA. A memorial will be held on Saturday at Miller Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 8. She will be buried with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery.
