S. Dianne Russell,  63


Dianne​ ​Russell,​ ​63,​ ​was​ ​taken​ ​from​ ​this​ ​life​ ​on​ ​November​ ​25,​ ​2017.​ ​At​ ​the​ ​moment​ ​of​ ​her​ ​transition​ ​from​ ​this world,​ ​she​ ​was​ ​surrounded​ ​by​ ​peace​ ​and​ ​love​ ​with​ ​her​ ​family​ ​by​ ​her​ ​side,​ ​thus​ ​ending​ ​over​ ​four​ ​years​ ​of battling​ ​ovarian​ ​cancer. 

Dianne​ ​was​ ​born​ ​April​ ​28, ​ ​1954​ ​in​ ​West​ ​Palm​ ​Beach, ​ ​Florida, ​ ​the​ ​daughter​ ​of​ ​Bill​ ​and​ ​Nita​ ​Rowe. ​ ​She​ ​grew​ ​up various​ ​places​ ​until​ ​her​ ​father​ ​retired​ ​from​ ​the​ ​military​ ​and​ ​settled​ ​in​ ​Valdosta, ​ ​Georgia. 

Dianne​ ​was​ ​married​ ​to​ ​Robert​ ​Russell​ ​on​ ​April​ ​19,​ ​1986.​ ​This​ ​began​ ​a​ ​life​ ​of​ ​love​ ​and​ ​travel.​ ​Together,​ ​with their​ ​daughters,​ ​Robin​ ​and​ ​Allison,​ ​they​ ​experienced​ ​the​ ​world​ ​as​ ​Rob​ ​was​ ​stationed​ ​in​ ​various​ ​locations during​ ​his​ ​military​ ​career.​ ​She​ ​enjoyed​ ​traveling​ ​and​ ​making​ ​memories​ ​with​ ​her​ ​family​ ​and​ ​friends.​ ​She enjoyed​ ​a​ ​long​ ​and​ ​distinguished​ ​career​ ​in​ ​the​ ​Civil​ ​Service,​ ​eventually​ ​retiring​ ​from​ ​the​ ​CID​ ​in​ ​Quantico, Virginia.

Dianne​ ​was​ ​a​ ​devoted​ ​wife,​ ​mother,​ ​grandmother,​ ​and​ ​friend.​ ​Her​ ​giving​ ​and​ ​bountiful​ ​spirit​ ​was​ ​experienced by​ ​all​ ​who​ ​knew​ ​her.​ ​She​ ​lived​ ​for​ ​her​ ​family​ ​and​ ​was​ ​the​ ​rock​ ​on​ ​which​ ​the​ ​family​ ​foundation​ ​stood.​ ​She​ ​was actively​ ​involved​ ​in​ ​all​ ​of​ ​her​ ​grandchildren’s​ ​lives​ ​and​ ​loved​ ​to​ ​help​ ​wherever​ ​she​ ​could.​ ​​ ​She​ ​was​ ​known​ ​to​ ​do anything​ ​from​ ​baking​ ​goodies​ ​to​ ​sell​ ​at​ ​band​ ​concerts​ ​to​ ​donating​ ​old​ ​homegoods​ ​to​ ​create​ ​a​ ​set​ ​for​ ​a​ ​play. 

Dianne​ ​lived​ ​her​ ​life​ ​to​ ​help​ ​others.​ ​She​ ​volunteered​ ​for​ ​the​ ​National​ ​Ovarian​ ​Cancer​ ​Coalition​ ​to​ ​spread awareness​ ​about​ ​ovarian​ ​cancer​ ​early​ ​detection​ ​and​ ​treatment.​ ​She​ ​also​ ​gave​ ​of​ ​her​ ​time​ ​to​ ​the​ ​Salvation Army’s​ ​Angel​ ​Tree​ ​and​ ​Wreaths​ ​Across​ ​America​ ​at​ ​Arlington​ ​National​ ​Cemetery​ ​to​ ​help​ ​bring​ ​comfort​ ​and peace​ ​to​ ​others.​ ​​ ​Her​ ​greatest​ ​accomplishment​ ​in​ ​life​ ​can​ ​be​ ​seen​ ​through​ ​those​ ​she​ ​has​ ​left​ ​behind.​ ​May​ ​her love​ ​and​ ​gracious​ ​spirit​ ​live​ ​on​ ​through​ ​all​ ​of​ ​us;​ ​may​ ​her​ ​persevering​ ​nature​ ​be​ ​a​ ​pattern​ ​for​ ​us​ ​to​ ​follow. 

Dianne​ ​is​ ​preceded​ ​in​ ​death​ ​by​ ​her​ ​parents​ ​and​ ​she​ ​is​ ​survived​ ​by​ ​her​ ​loving​ ​husband, ​ ​Rob, ​ ​her​ ​daughters Robin​ ​and​ ​Allison, ​ ​their​ ​husbands, ​ ​Michael​ ​and​ ​Michael, ​ ​as​ ​well​ ​four​ ​grandchildren: ​ ​Emma, ​ ​Hayden, ​ ​Nathan, and​ ​Eliza. 

There​ ​is​ ​to​ ​be​ ​a​ ​commemoration​ ​at​ ​1:00​ ​pm​ ​on​ ​Friday,​ ​December​ ​1st​ ​at​ ​the​ ​Miller​ ​Funeral​ ​Home​ ​in Woodbridge,​ ​Virginia.​ ​It​ ​was​ ​Dianne’s​ ​fervent​ ​wish​ ​that​ ​this​ ​not​ ​be​ ​a​ ​funeral​ ​or​ ​memorial​ ​service.​ ​Rather,​ ​it​ ​is​ ​to be​ ​a​ ​celebration​ ​of​ ​her​ ​life​ ​for​ ​her​ ​family​ ​and​ ​friends​ ​to​ ​enjoy.​ ​In​ ​addition​ ​to​ ​a​ ​brief,​ ​planned​ ​program,​ ​everyone will​ ​be​ ​offered​ ​an​ ​opportunity​ ​to​ ​speak​ ​about​ ​Dianne​ ​and​ ​what​ ​she​ ​meant​ ​to​ ​them.
