McCreery, Dorothy Ann Timmons "Dot", 88

Died September 23, 2017.  Dot McCreery was born on November 29, 1928 to the late Mary Frances Carney and Percy Bradford Timmons, Sr. in Nashville, Tennessee.  Nashville was home for 46 years, where she graduated from East High School, embarked upon a 33- year career with South Central Bell, and married her brother’s best friend, Evans C. McCreery, when he returned from World War II.  Their happy marriage spanned more than 51 years, from November 27, 1946 until Evans’ death in 1998.  Dot and Evans moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee in 1974 and again to Signal Mountain, Tennessee in 1976 where Dot lived until 2002 when she relocated to Springfield, Virginia to be close to her daughter Carney and her family.  Dot interrupted her South Central Bell career for the 17 years she raised Carney, while also contributing many hours to her church, to Carney’s school, to the hospital as a Pink Lady volunteer, and to the PTA as president. An avid animal lover, especially dogs, she was blessed with Duchess, a St. Bernard who delivered three litters, including one that numbered 16 puppies! In the few unoccupied hours left, Dot played bridge – once a month for more than 40 years, with a beloved group of friends. She is also predeceased by her brother, Percy Bradford Timmons, Jr. and her son-in-law, Harold F. McCullough.

Mrs. McCreery is survived by her daughter, Carney M. McCullough, and grandson, Bradford Evans McCullough and numerous nieces and nephews and close friends.

Her family would like to thank Marie, Emelia, Cecelia and all the staff on EV3 at Garden Ridge for their loving care for the past five years.

Services will be held at Pohick Episcopal Church, 9301 Richmond Highway, Lorton, Virginia on Wednesday, October 4 at 11 am.  Graveside services will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery, 5110 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, Tennessee on Friday, October 6 at 1 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pohick Episcopal Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
