Mary Ellen Dedo, 95
Mary Ellen Dedo passed away on December 7, 2018 at the age of 95. She had just visited with members of her immediate family. Among the "Greatest Generation", Mary Ellen was married to a World War II Army veteran before passing away 20 years ago. They had been married for 48 years. She also worked in an aircraft plant during the war in California. It was quite coincidental that many of Mary's classmates were injured or killed at Pearl Harbor and that her passing was on it's 77th anniversary.
Mary is survived by her son, Jim Hyland and daughter-in-law; Ann, as well as four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two nieces and their families. Mary played the church piano for years and was known for her tender loving warmth and affection. Always ready to help others, she could talk to anyone and never met a stranger. She will be sorely missed.
Her open memorial service will be held at the Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge, VA 22192 on Friday, December 21st at 10:00 am.
Donations may be sent in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
