Raquel "Sherelle" McCullum, 32
Raquel “Sherelle” McCullum was born on December 7, 1986 in Titusville, Florida to Lemuel Corey McCullum and Bridgett Nicol Mathis. She went home to be with the lord on January 26, 2019.
Sherelle was an avid sports fan and athlete, excelling in softball, soccer, track and basketball. As the daughter of an active duty Air Force member, Sherelle had the opportunity to showcase her athletic abilities across the United States and Europe. During this time, she earned many awards and accolades; however, she was most excited about the time she was able to practice and scrimmage in basketball with several women from the NCAA and WNBA.
Sherelle was beautiful both inside and out. Growing up, Sherelle always earned compliments about how respectful she was and how wonderful she was with children. She had an infectious personality. Within her first year of living in Clovis, New Mexico, Sherelle was named prom queen at her high school.
Sherelle was a hard worker. Her most recent position was as a manager at Footlocker. This was the perfect job for her, as Sherelle had a particular fondness for tennis shoes.
Sherelle is survived by her husband, David Hernandez; two sons, Dante N. McCullum and Jonathan Hernandez; father and stepmother, Lemuel and Christine McCullum; sisters, Chanda McCullum, Jessica Bruner, Patricia Williams, Jenae McCullum, Kori McCullum, and Hemaiya Quimby; brothers, Eric Williams and Dante S. McCullum; and a host of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Sherelle will always be remembered for her courage. A Celebration of Life will be held February 2, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd., Woodbridge, VA 22192.
