Sami T. Kodsi, 75
Sami Tibo Kodsi, age 75, of Woodbridge, VA, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 11, 2018. Sami was born in the city of Jerusalem on January 27, 1943. Sami was the third of five children born to Samira and Tibo Kodsi. The family went on to live in Lebanon, Kuwait, and Syria. By the age of 26, Sami and his brother, Souheil, came to live in the United States. With a lot of hard work, Sami was able to open his own restaurant, Caruso’s, in Reston, VA. It was there that Sami met his loving wife, Cheryl (Koerkenmeier) of Vienna, VA and they were married on July 20, 1980 - later raising three sons in Fairfax, VA then in Woodbridge, VA. Known for his hard work ethic, outgoing personality, and endearing smile, Sami worked tirelessly as a beloved Banquet Manager until he retired in 2008. In his retirement, Sami enjoyed spending time in Myrtle Beach, working at his brother’s restaurant, Layalina, in Arlington, VA, and visiting with his children and grandchildren.
Sami is preceded in death by his parents, Samira and Tibo Kodsi.
Sami is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Cheryl Kodsi; his brothers Samir of Syria; Souheil (Rima) of Reston, VA; his sisters Salwa, and Sawsan (Husni) of Reston, VA; and sons Christopher (Jaclyn) of Christiansburg, VA, Bryan (Ashley) of Montpelier, VA, and Andrew of Woodbridge, VA. Sami is also survived by his beloved grandchildren who absolutely adored their “Geddo”, his extended Koerkenmeier family, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
The family will honor Sami and receive friends at Miller Funeral Home from 4-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2018.
