On Monday April, 9, 2018 of Woodbridge, VA after a short, yet brave battle with cancer passed away peacefully with his family by his side.


He was the son of James and Christine White of Savannah, TN who predeceased him. Survived by his devoted wife of 42 years Andrea, two daughters Laura White and Gina (Amilcar) Sahonero, three granddaughters Lucy, Sophia and Liza, two sisters Maryann (Carl) Doyle, Jane (Doc) Skelton, two aunts Margaret White, Ruby (Jimmy) Baugus and many other loving relatives and friends.


U.L. enlisted in the United States Navy in 1972 and served his country for 20 years retiring honorably from the United States Navy Reserves. His first duty station as a Hull Technician was at Pearl Harbor, HI where he met and married his loving wife, Andrea. He was transferred to Long Beach, CA where they welcomed two amazing daughters. He left active duty for employment with Southern California Edison as a construction welder and then construction electrician. After relocating to Woodbridge, VA he was employed with Dominion Energy for several years. He retired from the federal government as an electrical inspector, and his job sites included the Pentagon, Smithsonian Institution, Quantico Marine Corps Base and Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina.


U.L. was a man with a kind heart, fun-loving nature and great sociability, who enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family. Known as Granddaddy to his granddaughters, he loved taking them fishing, barbecuing at the beach, attending outdoor concerts and gardening. Every August he looked forward to attending the Prince William County Fair. He was a talented craftsman who completed many projects in his workshop and he could be counted on by family and friends to assemble or repair anything. U.L. enjoyed customizing and riding his Harley Davidson with friends, he attended Rolling Thunder and bike week events. His life was a testament to hard work and perseverance. He is dearly missed.


Visitation on Thursday, April 19 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, 3200 Golansky Blvd, Woodbridge, Virginia 22192.  Funeral services on Friday, April 20 at 10:30 a.m. at the United States Marine Corps Memorial Chapel, Marine Corps Base Quantico.  Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery.
